Storyline[]

Role on Escape from Pelican Rock Island[]

Day 1[]

Dean appears at lunch time in the kitchen making food. The player tries to walk in, but he says that only trained chefs are allowed in the kitchen. After the player tries the food, they again try to walk in the kitchen, but Dean gets mad and says that only trained chefs are allowed. The player asks how they can get a job in the kitchen, and he answers that there are two ways: they can either get trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, or they can find him 3 eggs to make his omelette. The player says that they'll find 3 cage-free eggs, and walks off. Marion tells the player that he doesn't think Dean ever trained in Le Cordon Bleu because the food is terrible. After that, Dean is ordered to go to bed.

Day 2[]

Dean appears at lunch time standing in the kitchen again. He asks the player if they've found him free-range eggs yet, and the player replies saying that they haven't yet, and then walks away. After that, Dean is told to go to bed.

Day 3[]

Dean is in the same exact place as day 1 and 2, and is again just seen standing there. Dean again asks the player if they've got 3 free-range eggs for him, and the player says no. After that, Dean goes to bed as usual.

Day 4[]

The player goes to lunch and runs over to Dean and gives him the 3 free-range eggs, just like he asked. Dean says the he can finally make a decent omelette, and that the player can be his sous chef. Dean then says that he only trusts the player to stir the mashed potatoes, since the player is new at being in the kitchen. He then says that good mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy, and that all potatoes have or must have no filler. Dean then starts stirring his omelette in a shiny, gray bowl. The player walks into the kitchen and asks Dean how they're supposed to stir the mashed potatoes, and Dean tells the player that they've just got to stir the big pot in the corner, and to not add anything weird to the mashed potatoes. Dean then reminds the player that good mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy, and that all potatoes have or must have no filler. The player asks if the could borrow the mixer in Dean's hand so that they won't have to actually stir it, and Dean says that he never let's go of his mixer, and that he'll take it into battle if he needs to. The player walks over to the big pot containing the mashed potatoes, while wondering how they can get Dean to drop the mixer. The player starts to stir the mashed potatoes, and Dean walks over and tells them that they're doing a good job. But after that, the player turns on the fan, causing the mashed potatoes to get sucked up and splat onto the plate in between Marion and Patches, startling them both. Dean freaks out and tells the player that it's against the prison policy to give out seconds, and that the wardens gonna end up coming after them. Dean is then ordered to go to bed after that.

Day 5[]

Dean is still making his omelette in that shiny gray bowl. The player walks over to the big pot of mashed potatoes and pours the cup of plaster into the mashed potatoes. They then begin to stir the mashed potatoes until it is hard as plaster. The player then thinks that they could probably carve the potatoes into something useful, and Dean runs over to the player. Dean says that the mashed potatoes are now inedible, and that he'll never get that Michelin Star now. He then takes the block of plaster and puts it on a stool next to the big pot, and then runs back over to make his omelette. After doing all of that, Dean is told to go to bed.

Day 6[]

Jesus Dean, how long is it gonna take before you finish making that omelette? You're still only stirring the omelette? Yeah, I don't think omelettes take that long to make.

Day 7[]

Finally his character changes. Yesterday, the player made a late-night visit to the ventilation shaft, and changed the vents to be open above Florian Fosbury's spot. The player immediately runs over to the pot of mashed potatoes and turns on the fan. The player begins to stir them, causing the mashed potatoes to get sucked up and splat all over Florian's head. Florian says that whoever did this to him would pay, and then an officer of the prison tells Florian to sit down. Florian throws his food at the officer, causing a food fight to start. Dean runs over to the player asking how they could treat his cuisine like that. Dean then tells the player that he put his blood, sweat, and tears into the food that he made. The player freaks out because they ate the food, but Dean calms them down saying that he didn't do it literally. Dean then runs into the fight trying to stop it, and, as it turns out, he told the truth about being willing to bring his mixer into a fight. Eventually, Dean walks back into the kitchen without his mixer, and asks the player to go and get it, and then falls on the floor. The player retrieves the mixer and brings it back to Dean, and Dean says that he's never had a sous chef with such dedication and lets the player keep the mixer. He then tells the player to treat like it's their child. Eventually, an officer of the prison put Florian down and demanded that everyone has to go to lockdown. And that, my friends, is the last time we see Dean. He didn’t make it out of the prison like some other inmates. Poor guy.
